157 ft. Ferris Wheel. Wildwood, NJ. (A gentle giant.) :)

This is rigged so that it displays a very complex, beautiful
computerized light show that must be seen to be believed.
At night it can be seen for miles.

Yeah, there is sort of surreal quality to this shot. I took it during the few seconds when the ride was lit this intense cyan, which cast a subtle violet shadow on some parts of it. I can't even begin to estimate the number of hours/days it would require to take a 'still' of every color, hue, combination and chasing light effect these tubes do. It is just dazzling and it can also be synchronized with music.

I titled this HighON *NeON*, and the original lights on this were typical neon tubes (and very impressive). The ride was constructed sometime around 1980. The lighting was changed about 4-5 years ago to give this giant wheel a multitude of different effects & colors compared to what it originally had (which was impressive in itself). And actually
I believe the tubes on here now are NOT actually neon (which I love), but are filled with
many thousands of LEDs. To acheive the same effects with actual neon tubes I think would've been WAY too expensive, assuming it was even possible. As it is, they spent BIG $$$$ for the new rigging on this!

Expect to be disappointed and you never will be.

It reminded me of how Eiffel Tower is lit up.. well, I actually don't know how, but they spend a lot of money on it, and painting it and all.. And also I like neon lights :) not something I'd have in a living room, but they are nice to look..
